“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Romans 5:1
There is a deep peace that comes from knowing you are right with God. It is not the peace that depends on your performance or perfection, but on what Jesus has already done for you. You are not righteous because you always do right—you are righteous because Jesus made you right before God.
Every human being carries a longing to be accepted, to be seen as good enough. We try to earn approval through effort, morality, or religion, but those paths always leave us exhausted. The truth of the gospel is different. You don’t earn righteousness—you receive it as a gift through faith in Christ.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” That means Jesus took your guilt, your shame, and your failure, and exchanged them for His perfect standing before God. When the Father looks at you, He no longer sees your mistakes—He sees the righteousness of His Son covering you completely.
Being righteous by faith means you can finally stop trying to earn God’s love. You already have it. You don’t have to beg for acceptance; you are already accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:6). You don’t have to live under the weight of guilt or the fear of rejection. You can walk freely, knowing that peace with God is your new reality.
This peace isn’t fragile. It doesn’t disappear when you fail or stumble. 1 John 2:1 reminds us that even when we fall, we have an Advocate—Jesus Christ the righteous—who stands on our behalf. His righteousness doesn’t fluctuate; it’s permanent and perfect.
Faith in Christ is what unlocks this new identity. Faith is simply believing that what Jesus did is enough. It is resting in His finished work rather than trying to fix yourself. As you grow in faith, you begin to see yourself the way God sees you—clean, forgiven, and whole.
Today, stop carrying the burden of trying to prove your worth. You are justified, forgiven, and free. Walk in the peace that comes from knowing that you and God are no longer at odds. You are on the same side—loved, accepted, and made new through Christ.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for making me righteous through Your sacrifice. Thank You for taking my place and giving me peace with God. Help me to live each day in the joy of forgiveness and the confidence of grace. Teach me to rest in Your finished work and to see myself the way You see me—clean, accepted, and deeply loved. Amen.
