“Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” – Psalm 5:12
Favour is more than just an occasional blessing or a momentary advantage—it is a divine covering that God places over the lives of His children. In Psalm 5:12, David declares with confidence that the righteous are not only blessed, but also surrounded by God’s favour like a shield. To be surrounded means that no matter which direction the enemy may come from, God’s favour stands as a barrier and a covering. This gives us assurance that our lives are not exposed to the uncertainties of life, but covered by divine approval and grace.
A crown is a symbol of distinction, authority, and identity. Kings are known by their crowns; it sets them apart from ordinary men. In the same way, when you are crowned with favour, it becomes visible upon your life. People may not always understand why doors open for you, why your name is mentioned in places you’ve never been, or why you receive kindness where others receive hostility—but the crown of favour upon your life makes the difference.
This crown is also a shield. A shield speaks of defense in times of battle. God’s favour does not only elevate; it protects. It guards against shame, rejection, and failure. It ensures that when people gather to bring you down, their plans collapse because God’s favour is actively shielding you. While others may face rejection, you will encounter acceptance. Where others are forgotten, you will be remembered. The crown of favour ensures you are never left without divine backing.
The story of Joseph illustrates this perfectly. Though betrayed, sold as a slave, and falsely imprisoned, the crown of favour never left his head. In Potiphar’s house, in the prison, and eventually in Pharaoh’s palace, favour kept distinguishing him. It lifted him from the dungeon to the throne. What happened to Joseph is a reminder that when you are crowned with favour, circumstances cannot hold you down. No pit, no prison, and no accusation can cancel what God has placed on you.
As you step into October, carry the consciousness that you are not ordinary. You are crowned with favour. This crown will protect you, announce you, and cause you to be preferred above others. Walk into this month with boldness, knowing that divine favour is your covering, your crown, and your confidence.
Prayer/Confession:
Lord, I thank You for clothing me with righteousness through Christ and surrounding me with Your favour as a shield. I wear the crown of divine favour today and every day. Let it protect me from shame, secure my steps, and cause me to stand out in every place. By Your favour, doors will open, helpers will locate me, and my life will reflect honour. I step into this month with confidence, knowing I am crowned with Your divine favour. Amen.
